I read because I feel it makes you smarter because you're open to more vocabulary than you are used to.  If you open yourself up to higher vocabulary, I feel you get smarter and comprehend things you may not have been able to before. I also read because you can really get absorbed in a book per say, and I really enjoy that about books.  When I get really into a book, I can't stop reading.   If I got into a really good book, I would read for hours upon hours until my eyes hurt or i just fall asleep.  And then i would do it again and again until I finished the book.

Reading also gives advice for life as well.  Sometimes you may think, "Oh, I won't ever need to use this in my life." But most of the time, the things you think you don't need, are the things you need the most.  Books make me go into deep thought sometimes.  Thoughts about life in general or some other things like real world problems people face daily.  And I think that's important because no one would think about that daily.
